I ain’t no photo book guru, but here’s a little list of photo books to buy yourself or that special photo fan in your life. Nothing revolutionary, just some books (some from years past) I have or want:
Thomas Flechtner - Snow

Peter Bialobrzeski - Paradise Now

Jussi Puikkonen – On Vacation

Michael Wolf – Hong Kong Inside Outside

Mitch Epstein – American Power

Thomas Ruff – jpegs

Andreas Gefeller – Photographs

Hans van der Meer – European Fields

Our True Intent is All for You Delight: The John Hinde Butlin’s Photographs

Guy Tillim – Avenue Patrice Lumumba

Ville Lenkkeri – The Place of No Roads

Christian Schwager – Falsche Chalets

Gerhard richter – Overpainted Photographs

Donovan Wylie – British Watchtowers

Great list! All added to my amazon WL
Just looking at these representative images from the various books made me think how so much photography looks the same these days. Medium or large format color and everything seems to be about irony. Somehow Josef Koudelka’s black and white work just never gets old for me. And I am trying to figure out exactly why that is. Photographic trends may have moved on, but I simply am not moved by so much being published today.
